First of all, Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there. I can safely say I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my mother. For that and countless other acts of selfless service from her I am extremely grateful. As I am grateful to all the mothers in this world for how they help provide and serve.
So I have been toying around with names for the van. It seems like everybody’s van in this van life world has a name, like VanNessa, and Van LeVan. You know, they all have stories around them and it seems to bring joy to them to share it. So why not, what the hell am I gonna name this thing???
So for a while now I have been thinking that this van will have a Zen theme. Something that exudes relaxation and taking it easy. So names like ZenZone and MobileZen have come to mind. But they really didn’t elicit any deep felt satisfaction with what I hoped the name would bring. Seemed a little kitschy to me…
The other day I was delivering a family heirloom rocking chair to my son and his partner. I had just refinished it back to ‘better than new’ status. They have a baby due any day now and this rocking chair has rocked a few generations and I want it to keep rocking the next few to come.
I was sorting through pictures of the rocker in use to show them and ran across and this one with mom in it. I remembered how she always wore pearls, and it hit me, the van is silver and I could call it Pearl to honor the memory of my Mom. I can safely say I wouldn’t have the freedom to do what I do without her lifetime of support. And on top of that, Mothers Day was upon us. And, besides, it just felt RIGHT! So happy Mothers Day Mom, this Pearl is for you. Love you Mom!
