Chamonix

Well Chamonix is as nice as the guide books say. Grant and I rested most of the afternoon the day we got here. He was still jetlagged. Then we got up early, ate a good breakfast and headed on to our hike. The nice chap at the office of tourism suggested we do the Lac Blanc hike for the day. We wanted to pick something pretty and easy and this hike filled the bill. We took a series of two cable cars to the top and then hiked over to the lake. It was about an hour and a half contour hike that ended up at an aquamarine  glacier lake. The surprise for us was the nice refuge with full restaurant waiting for us. We had some fruit, a piece of blueberry tart and a Perrier.  Now that is what I call some seriously good hiking!  So now that the warmup is out of the way, the real hiking starts tomorrow. Now on to dinner. Bon appetit!
