Well, I finished the coffee table and here are some progress shots to give you all a little insight to the process. Let’s just say that I understand completely and thoroughly why custom furniture is always quoted at 12 weeks. It just takes that long, no matter how simple it might look. I have thoroughly enjoyed the process so here it is, I hope you do too. I would like to thank Phil Edgerton at Edgeworks Design for the metal base. The man is a master at metal and you will be seeing some more of his work real soon.
This tables design was inspired by a bench I saw that Phil made that I saw at East Austin Studio tour. I adapted the design to have the legs show through the table top. I made the top out of two inch thick mesquite milled from central Texas area. Keepin it local!

Nice end product I too enjoy building furniture, stuff like seats, benches, wine racks ETC… My shop is my garage and my tools are mostly hand. But I love creating useful product. Most of my projects are gifts for friends, the end products could never be sold for a profit, because I only use Mahagony and my time is priceless. What fun it is for me, I go into another world while doing this , same zone of thought when gardening. Your work is one of a kind and very sweet Dave!!

Thanks for the cool comment and kind words. I have the bug too as you see. If you find yourself this way, stop in and visit my ‘garage shop’. I refer to it as my sanctuary. Much love my friend!
