Dave's Not Here

I never realized that uncertainty was a companion until I read this quote from my current read, Art & Fear:

“Uncertainty is the essential, inevitable and all pervasive companion to your desire to make art. And tolerance for uncertainty is the prerequisite to succeeding.”

It seems like at every twist and turn of this table I am sitting back to scratch my head and wonder how I am going to do the next two steps.  I get to spots where a major decision needs to be made and I feel like I am jumping off into the deep end kinda believing I can swim when I am not quite sure if I can.  Well I guess this is like any new endeavor that we try.  If we sit back and over think it, we get stuck in thought.  If we plunge ahead too fast, we end up starting over, but if we hit that magic spot in between we succeed in our learning for the day.  My tendency has always been to over think things. So my motto this week is “Think less, do more”.

The real challenge this week has been to get all these tongue and grooves to match up so that everything fits together and is square. Well this is finally done and I glue up the body today.  Next step is to put on the legs and fit the front and side aprons, and finally the drawers.  Onward, plunging ahead!!
