Yoho Ho-Ho-Ho

This year is the 150th anniversary of the Canadian National Parks.  So as a give to all, Canada has opened up access to all their parks for free.  Yes, so no park fees!  We are fortunate to have six in our area and we have been in five thus far.  Here is some of the gems we have found along the way.

Monday we went to Lake Louise in Banff National Park.  The best way to describe it was that it is a completely gorgeous location that feels like a zoo.  There were more than a dozen large tour buses there, remote parking and shuttles running every 5 minutes.  It really gets a lot of attention and there is good reasons why.

We then took a trip to the real gem of the day which was Emerald Lake.  The crowds disappeared and we were able to really find some beauty up close.  Emerald Lake is definitely a must see!

On Tuesday we went to visit Yoho National Park with some falls in mind.  We visited Takakkaw Falls and Laughing Falls.  Takakkaw Falls, I believe, is the highest falls in Canada at about 830ft, if I have my facts straight.  They are massive with a huge mist laden downdraft at its base.  Very refreshing.  Laughing Falls was a nice hike and great addition to the day.

On Wednesday we went white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River and that was a complete blast, but sadly no pictures.  Thursday we headed off to the Icefields in Banff and Jasper National Parks.  One of the most stunning days so far.

Then on Friday we went to Radium Hot Springs to soak in the natural hot springs and visit the spa for a massage after to reward our weary bones from all the hiking and adventuring.  Make sure to ask Vicki about her experience with the Hawaiian Masseuse.

As alway, thanks for coming along on our adventure with us.  We love you all!

    1. I love your posts and photos as well. Seems like you hit alot of the places we didn’t but wanted too. Especially the dinosaur museum. I had no idea until I got up there how many fossils have come from that area. They are truely stunning! Thanks for the note and also for your posts. Let’s keep in touch!
